TV is one of the best inventions the man has ever made. Everybody knows what a great force TV is in the world today. Thanks to TV we get a great amount of information. It gives wonderful possibilities for education. It enriches our intellect. We also become better informed by watching documentaries, science programs and so on. TV gives us opportunity to see the best actors, to meet famous people.
I'm not a cinema goer. I prefer to watch films on TV, video or DVD. But I think that watching a good film is the best relaxation. It is thought-provoking and entertaining. There are wonderful comedies, love stories, science fiction, horror films, detective stories, historical films on. There is a variety of films available today.
As for me, I prefer watching romance films. Every day we see crime and cruelty on TV, but romance films show life as it can be lived in one's imagination and make the viewer escape from reality into a dream world.
The last film I watched on TV was "Mulen Ruge" and it won my heart.
It's a colour full-length musical. This film is dubbed in many languages. The plot is written by Baz Luhrmann. The plot left a deep and lasting impression on me. It's great. Andrew, whose magnificent performance was given by Evan McGragor, fell in love over ears with a dancer-queen Satin. Nicol Kidmann created a true-to-love image of her. Andrew was a poor writer and she was set on being a star and earning a lot of money. But love doesn't put attention on one's abilities. A famous and very rich earl wanted to contribute money to Satin's career and earged her to play the leading part in his play of poor taste.
He blackmailed her and demanded on her leaving Andrew and marry him. She had nothing to do but leave Andrew saying she didn't love him any more. At the end Satin began to sing their song "Come What May". She made herself clear. She was in his arms. But Satin was ill ands she died in his arms.
Such a film can't leave anybody cold. The ending was logical but very depressing. Some problems are raised in this musical: relations between different classes of society, unemployment, relationship between man and woman. I believe this story is true-to-life, because as in those ages today money plays a great role in our life, and I don't know why, but a real love doesn't leave forever and lovers always have to get over many difficulties.
The film was directed by Baz Luhrmann. A lot of useful scenes are included, which help us to understand inner world of characters.Director of photography is Donald McAlpine. I am not a professional but I can say photography was artistically done and close-ups were technically brilliant.
It's not for nothing that "Mulen Ruge" appeals so much to the audience. Leading actors Nicol Kidmann & Aron McGregor contributed a great deal of professionalism to the film. They gave a convincing portrayal of Andrew and Satin. They made the most of the roles. They made everybody believe everything they said and did.
I believe that songs dominated the film rather than dialogs. But all actors spoke effectively. It goes without saying music and songs were suitable, it's a musical. All their feelings and emotions could be understood from songs. All songs were real success. Many tracks can be heard in Radio.
To sum it up I say that the musical "Mulen Ruge" is a hit with the public. It's an absorbing vividly dramatic musical.
